After one of the recent upgrades to Windows 10, my Dell Laptop brightness is off the charts. I can find no way to adjust it. The function buttons no longer work. Under settings, the display setting provides no adjustment for brightness. I've read online about others having this problem a few years ago; I haven't found anyone talking about it as a recent issue. I have tried the fixes that were listed; none of them have worked. Please Help.

Press Windows key + X
Click Device Manager
Expand Display adapters
Right click the current display adapter
Click Properties
Click Driver tab
Click Rollback driver if the option is available
If not
Right click the current display adapter
Click Uninstall
Check the box that says, "Delete the driver software for this device.”
Exit Device Manager
Restart
Go to Start -> Settings -> Update & security, then Check for updates and install any available updates.
Well, it is now June 2018, just got Win10 update and this problem with the Dell laptop: cannot adjust brightness -- no matter what. No, the suggestions above did not work. Maybe it worked back in January, but it sure doesn't work with this latest update. I tried wiping both the graphics driver and monitor driver, too, but these had no effect.
The (new) nightlight doesn't even work right. It only sometimes works right, and most of the time I have to go into the control panel settings to actually set that to on/off.
Gotta love Microsoft. Getting ready to migrate this to Linux, maybe then the computer will actually function as intended instead of spending most of the time downloading and installing updates that don't improve the experience and only **** things up -- as usual.
I have the same problem with hp laptop and I tried everything but brightness adjustment is not working.
Some more Updates came in yesterday - no luck - Bright as ever!!! Any idea what MSoft plans to do??? Somehow, the Desktop machine is o.k.
Someone says hook up an external monitor to the Laptop and then try it??? Any thoughts???
