This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY.

Hi

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

reboot system

Hope this helps!

THIS FIX WORKED FOR ME 3 WEEKS AGO.  I don't know if there are multiple causes but it worked for my version of the problem.  The fix is simple.  It takes only a few minutes to enter the commands.   BTW, the total impact of this fix is to start 4 system services earlier in the boot process instead of delaying them until later.  These 4 services are basic functions of the update/upgrade process.  You lose nothing by giving it a try.

My system has been running perfectly since the fix and the completion of the update...no problems

And finally, if you try this and it succeeds you will likely have to reboot your system several (many?) times after the update.   This is a little bit of a pain, but well worth it to be done with the problem.

    Good luck.

This is the fix!  Anyone having this annoying issue just do as the quoted instructions post and no more problem.

Thank you for posting this, Mr. Bossak. This completely solved the problem for me after several reboots (as you later noted).  Anyone reading this should share this fix for many suffering Windows users with failed and repeating installs as described by the OP.

Die EINZIGE LÖSUNG brachte dann ein komplettes Inplace Update mit dem Media Creation Tool und der Iso . Knapp 3 Stunden Zittern und Bangen , jetzt läuft alles wieder wie vorher mit allen Updates .

KB 4056892 u.a. sind frisch installiert , dauerte sehr lange diesmal, schien mir.
