This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY.

Hi

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

Die EINZIGE LÖSUNG brachte dann ein komplettes Inplace Update mit dem Media Creation Tool und der Iso . Knapp 3 Stunden Zittern und Bangen , jetzt läuft alles wieder wie vorher mit allen Updates .

KB 4056892 u.a. sind frisch installiert , dauerte sehr lange diesmal, schien mir.

I solved it in the same way. Everything happened exactly as you have explained it. At last!!! :)

I as well am having the same problem described with the same error code. It also seems to be blocking KB4056687 from installing now too. I have tried all the steps short of a full clean install. When I used the media creation tool to do an in-place upgrade its stuck on 3% of working on updates for over 4 hours. I was required to restart and revert. Any other suggestions short of a full clean install? This problem seems to be extremely widespread. Will a fix be pushed out for this? Requiring who knows how many users to clean install would be a massive inconvenience.
