Battery Draining In Alcatel Idol 4S

l am using two devices right now while having this battery issue, the 4s and a Fierce XL.  When I reactivated the XL, I think all the settings and app data synced across the devices.  I need to check that though.  On the SD card, if I unencrypt it, I think I can just remove it before the reset, then replace it afterwards and the reset device should be able to read it.  I need to confirm that before I do it though.

if you have backups of everithing and the card is unencripted i would keep it there, becouse some apps when installing if they have backups in the SD card they will recover them.

You need to check the list and see and make sure you backup data for the apps that are not in that list before you Hard Reset.

Yes you have to unencrypt the card before you make the hard reset or find a way to backup all data before you do the Reset.

Ha!  In Settings/System/Backup, if you go to "more options" you get a list of all the apps. I have both devices set to auto-backup and they backup to OneDrive.

I suppose the thing to do is to check the list of apps and see if any are missing.  If any are missing, I guess need to see if there's another way to backup those.

Also, under Settings/Update & Security/Device Encryption, you can choose whether or not to encrypt the SD card...  There's a warning, says if you reset phone while SD card is encrypted, its content can be lost... It's my understanding that it WILL be lost... So if anyone else tries this, I'd say unencrypt it!

If this helps the best explanation about what " participating apps " is this: Device backup includes your app list only. App data may be backed up if the app developer elected to include app data in in backup. These are the apps that participate in app data backup. Device backup includes phone settings, start page layout, installed app list and data from participating apps. Personal data is not part of phone back up, documents. pictures, videos and music.

That said, before you Reset your phone at least make backups of all apps that on them self’s offer that option, like for example WhatsApp.
