Have you tried rolling back to the previous driver?

Right click Start Menu>Device Manager>Expand Display Adapter>Right click Your brand Display Adapter>Right Click Properties>Click Driver TAB>Rollback Driver>Answer Questions

You may have to stop further updates to the AMD drivers after or you may be re-updated and bounced back to the same dysfunction.

Sounds to me like a display adapter driver problem.  This is a known issue currently rather widespread  for devices using AMD graphics cards.  It resulted from MS providing less than perfect driver updates for AMD Radeon display adapters.  Do you have an AMD display adapter?

Determine what brand name graphics card aka (display adapter, video card, graphics processing unit) you have on your device... by right clicking the Start menu>Device Manager>Display Adapter>Expand it>Properties>all right clicks.

If AMD is your brand name display adapter, you should update the driver by going to the manufacture's website HERE  selecting "Autodetect" then download what autodetect finds for you.  This is the easiest way to do it if you have an AMD display adapter.

If you don't have a AMD Radeon Display Adapter on your device, then this wouldn't apply to you.

My display resolution problems were corrected immediately after updating the Display Adapter Driver from the AMD website found above using AutoDetect.

I woke up to my computer having the exact same problem today and I cannot find a solution anywhere. What is bugging me most, however, is that when I reset my computer, the screen went back to normal for a few minutes and then reverted to the enlarged/stretched distortion.

The last time I used my computer was on Tuesday.  I never had any issues prior to that.  I turned it on today for the first time since Tuesday and all of sudden everything is enlarged and stretched off the screen.  To answer your questions in order as follows:

1.  No, I have not noticed any system changes since I last used my computer.  At least nothing I am aware of unless something automatically changed.

2.  No, I am not receiving any error messages.

3.  I have tried most of the general troubleshooting that I have found on the internet, such as, checking resolution and scaling settings.  They are all at the original settings.  I also checked for graphic driver updates and it said everything was up to date.

I have included two screen shots but I'm not sure how much you can tell from them since they do not look as bad as it really is.

Would a virus do something like this?  I have virus protection.  I'm hoping you can help since I am unable to work with it in this condition.
