Exactly the same problem here. Windows updates itself, but cannot continue with installation.

Restart takes me back to the same error.

Tried oobe/msoobe - nothing happens.

Tried installation DVD - Repair this computer. Boot repair doesn't work, Restore point says I need to restart and choose system (which I can't), Return to previous system doesn't work.

Tried to update from installation DVD - Says I need to update from system - can't do.

Is there a way to continue with the installation or get back to the point before it?

Otherwise I will backup the data from another computer and perform clean install.

I am not sure if you have given up.  But I was in much the same spot.

When I got to the affore mentioned screen saying from my PC saying Nope I can't do it so try again.

Do Not press enter on the Ok button because your machine will restart to only ultimatly end up at the same place.

So here is what I did to fix my issue.  Sans Checklist Etc from Microsoft.

A backdoor at that screen is to hold the Shift Key and press F10

This should bring up command prompt.  If not then I am so sorry for you.

At that Command Prompt, Insert a Flash Drive with the Windows 10 Creators Update made from the Media Creation Tool into your machine.

Hopefully your PC will put it at D: if not then try E: or F: ECT

Once inserted type

d: enter, or E: or F:

type DIR and enter to see if a setup.exe is listed there.  It should be.

At this Point Type Setup and press enter.

After a small pause, Setup will start again.

Next on the list when it gets to the point of Download Updates?  Say No.

Then of course keep your data and continue.  I left my Ethernet Cable Plugged In.  

In 3 hours time if its a usual PC or less, your machine should Fail the install and go to a Restoring Point.  Atleast Mine did.

after the Restore, My PC Came to a new screen of installing updates, 85 Percent to 100 % and then Completed the install.

My Users were still there, as well as Programs.

Now before the upgrade process, I did uninstall All Antivirus, and Carbonite.  And I used Revo to make sure the Pesky Reg Entries were gone.

I also as a precaution Made a restore Point, and Made sure Windows was all the way up to date.

After I finished this, I ran Dism with Restore health, and SFC.

Then I did a chkdsk /c /f and restarted.

After that Noise, I Went into Device Manager and Disabled USB3, Media Cards, Wifi, Everything I could without preventing myself from using the PC.

I also Checked my Video Card manufacture for any updates.

So as to Why this happened to me and you and apparently Countless others?  I don't know.  DISM doesn't show errors from install, CBS only gives a vague Idea of a failure, But I hope the above helps you get past this seemingly Dauntless and Impossible install issue!

Here is the fix for "Windows could not complete the installation:

So I managed to get it started up. I turned the computer off and on 3 times to start advanced recovery. Choose advance options.  I was about to restore windows (reinstall windows and removing all apps and programs by keep personal files). Select reinstall and keep personal files. And then on the next screeen hit cancel.  So I hit cancel at the next prompt. I then selected start windows and it continued installation as normal without the error.

This thread must have been moved around.

If you are having a problem with an AMD computer after the 1709 update (after the update reboot the system gets stuck in a loop with the blue windows logo on a black screen) there is now an official fix from Microsoft that worked for me.
