Amazon Device randomly showing up on Network.

Original question:

I've got a random Amazon KFAUWI device showing up on my network as a device beside my driver for my router. Can anyone help? I am sure it is not a device in my house, as everything is set to something we've done or one of our names. Can anyone tell me if i'm stupid or if this is a general happening?

    1.  under Wi-Fi Protected Setup or WPS option, disable the WPS and save settings.

    1. ALSO in Wndows turn off features (if this is enabled)
    2. go to "Turn Windows features on or off "link.
    3. then find  the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support option.
    4. Uncheck this
    5. Click the OK button.
    6. Click the Restart now button.

    If you look you will see these devices are not on your network they have no IP address or other details.  They are simply devices with mac addresses out in the ether looking for available WPS networks they can connect to.  If you do not use WPS they will not connect. 

    make sure WPS is turned off in your  router.  Also turn off Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar service on your PC.

    Anyone have these pop in and out of your private network?

    Sounds to me like you've got someone who hacked your Network's Password.  They

    shouldn't show up if they aren't a part of your network.

    I'm not sure that's the probable answer.  This particular "hack" as you mention, is showing up World-Wide (US, Mexico, Canada, France, England, Netherlands, etc.).

    It's some (thing) else.

    I have come across the same issue on multiple networks, both as phantom Computers and phantom Phones. 

    It is caused by a combination of WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup Config) setting on your router and (Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar) service on your PC.

    Disabling either will make the phantoms go away.  I suggest disabling both especially if your are not using them.

    I also have karnak. I was checking out my network devices while I was copying some files and noticed it showed up above my router. I checked its properties and all was unavailable other than the manufacturer (Amazon) and the MAC address. I wasn't able to get a picture before it disappeared. 

    Edit (2/10/20): I just checked again and now have "mustang" that also disappeared as fast as it showed up.
