Error Code 80248015

I resolved the issue by deleting all the files in the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder and restarting.

To all those who are trying to change dates, and delete folders etc....

As discussed, did you just try the following first?

From Windows Update....

• In Change Settings select "Never Check for Updates".
• Click OK.
• Manually "Check for Updates".
• If update fails here, reboot and check again (thanks Retired-Telco).
• Go back to Change Settings and select "Install updates Automatically".
• Verify other setting are all as required, including Microsoft Update.
• Click OK.
• Manually "Check for Updates" again.

This has fixed problem, and made updates available again on multiple machines here.

Update:

Here, we had to wait a long time for the Windows Update interface to be available.  In some case it took about 20 minutes or more ! Patience required at each step....

Further Update:

The 5th system this was done on required a reboot mid way. Added to steps above.

The simplest solution appears to be:

1.       Set the date on the Windows 7 computer to 12/03/2017.  This is before the expiration date.

2.       Restart the computer.

3.       Run Windows Update (which should now be running).

4.       Check for updates, download any critical and important updates and install them.

5.       Restart the computer.

6.       With the date still set to 12/03/2017. Check to make sure Windows update is still working.  It should be OK.

7.       Change the date back to the current date.

8.       Restart the computer.

9.       Verify that Windows Update works properly.

This fix apparently works at least 90 percent of the time and doesn’t seem to hurt anything even if it doesn’t work.

Got the same problem :(

I tired searching for solutions, but everything (for Windows 7) was "old fixes",  the most recent were from 2016 or early 2017.  With system updates occurring regularly, a past fix that worked then may not now.   

Hopefully, whatever this current fix is, it's simple and easy to follow.  Attention Windows Tech Help: I request dumb-downed instructions with step by step pictures, please.

Same issue exactly and ran troubleshooter that fixed 3 item but left me with a not-fixed item "Windows Update Errorx8024402C" .

After restoring computer to2 days earlier when update worked[no updates...last one was the security updates on 2017-11-28], it still didn't work, I still had an unfixable error designated as 80248015.

I checked three=3 different windows 7 pro desktops and all gave same error and all could not be fixed with windows update troubleshooter.  I also checked, and though it says update service is not on and try to reboot.....1) rebooting did NOT help and 2) checking under windows services... the windows update service was shown to have beenStarted  [it's set to autostart]... I actually tried stopping and restarting under "Servies" and it did not help

In addition [HOPEFULLY MICROSOFT IS READING SOME OF THESE MESSAGES] this thread is the only thread that is current on this type of windows update issue.  

NET-NET , THIS APPEARS TO BE SOME SORTT OF MICROSOFT SERVER PROBLEM... AND THE SERVICE THAT IS NOT WORKING IS ON MICROSOFT SIDE.
