Windows Update Error 0x800f0922

Hi Rob,

Error 0x800f0922 occurs when downloading the newest update of Windows 10. It also means that you have less than 500 MB in system reserved partition. You may follow the methods provided below and check if you'll be able to update your device.

Method 1. Check your Internet connection

You need to make sure that you have an internet connection and if possible, you are using wired connections

Method 2. Check .NET Framework

Make sure you have the latest version of NET Framework installed. You may enable it in Windows features. Here's how:

1. Type Windows Features on the search bar and press Enter.
2. Select Turn Windows Features on or off.
3. Check any boxes related to DotNet Framework and save selection.
4. Restart your PC.

Method 3. Turn off your Firewall

We know that this is strange doing, but even Firewall can prevent updates occasionally. Here's how you can turn it off:

1. Type Firewall on the search bar and press Enter.
2. Open Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
3. Turn off Firewall for both private and public networks.
4. Save your selection.
5. After saving your selection, you may try updating your device.

neither of these fixes helped me with this problem. I did everything suggested. no joy

Surely there are far more than600 having issues. MS is deflecting their responsibilities to the consumer as usual. They wish to have a public forum do the guess work for them. More incorrect advice and answers only dd to the anger and frustration to the folks that pay the bills for MS ! Go figure. :-(

You must also check the event log after the failing update.

I know that to fix this is a painful and lengthy process - Make sure that

1. Settings -> Troubleshoot -> Windows Update
2. command prompt Admin -> DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

both complete successfully, if not fix that first

Clean Event Log (Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> select Application, right-click, select ClearLog and CLEAR, select Security .....,

select Setup ...., select System ...., select Forwarded Events .....)

Delete all files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (see *Note)

Settings -> Windows Update -> Check for Updates

Run the failing update

Check Event Log for clues -> the error reported by W/Update may be preceded by one or more other error codes and those are the ones that should be investigated.

*Note: this deletes all previously downloaded updates and the 'Check for updates' reloads only those that are current for your system.

I usually delete all temp files in C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Users<active UserName>\AppData\Local, empty the Recycle Bin, and

restart Windows before starting to troubleshoot updates.

Do a Google search for KB#  and download manually.

->Settings -> Windows Update - > View update history

    Click on the failed update (ore any other) -> will link to the specifics of the update (in Windows Support Downloads)
