Windows 10 update broke my computer?

All this arguing back and forth ... what has it accomplished for you?

Has it done anything to fix your computer or to keep your computer out of trouble in the future?

Ranting over what Microsoft should or shouldn't do might make for interesting discussion, but it's not going to get your computer working properly.

You either learn how to use your computer or you play the victim card forever.

If all you're prepared to do is write angry posts to attract sympathy for your plight, you're going to get left behind. Because the truth is millions of people all over the world have learned to use Windows 10, with all its foibles and weaknesses, and Microsoft, for all its failures, is at the leading edge of technology.

Don't get left behind!

S and S you replied to me and clearly you click on Reply so I am sure this was directed toward me. You said: "You either learn how to use your computer or you play the victim card forever." Why don't You just give it up? Talk about arguing back and forth you seem to be doing a good job of that. Don't tell me what I should know or not. I feel a victim here from you. If this Reply was not meant for me edit it and make it right.

I only hope that nobody thinks I am the smug self righteous ×€£# that posted that response. I dont remember when the tech police decided computers were for tech experts. I wouldnt expect to have to do a full service on my car before then rewire the electrics before I could get in and drive. Computers are a tool and the "experts?" are paid plenty to see that we of lower intelligence can press the on button and then they will work. MR TECH GENIUS. I think you are ever so clever. 

I totally agree with you and very well put I may say. I like the part about doing a full service on the car and rewire before you could drive. Thanks for your input and noting to these "know it all's" that post here and continue to degrade others here instead of helpful input.

We have read about brand new computers being fried because they didn't upgrade the bios ...

A brand new computer comes from the factory with the latest BIOS. And if it doesn't, that's the manufacturer's problem. Microsoft has nothing to do with the BIOS.

Moreover, new computers haven't shipped with a BIOS for several years. The BIOS has been replaced by UEFI.

Time to learn how computers work, and how to use yours correctly. It's nothing you can't do and you'll be much happier.

In reply to S_and _S: It is not always the case that people do anything whatsoever to their computers that make changes to cause the new computer to crash after a computer manufacturer recommended update or a Microsoft Windows 10 update installation. I have a brand new December 2018 HP notebook and I have it almost crash on me once with a black recovery screen that came out of nowhere. We the end user of the computer can only trust our manufacturer or Microsoft to provide us with the proper, clean and correct updates whether it be a security update, driver update or bios update. It is known that Microsoft and Computer manufacturers have listed updates for the specific users computer that do in fact crash a computer. So I don't get where you are saying 'Time to learn how computers work and how to use yours correctly? Sounds to me like you may be more experienced per say on as you said the BIOS has been replaced by UEFI but most do not know this. So take a break from accusing people and know that you may think you are so special and above all others where you can tell people what to do or what they should be doing  or what they are doing wrong.

Instead of relying on hearsay - from me or anyone else - how about trying it for yourself?

You couldn't be more of a hopeless case than I was, yet I managed to dig myself out by investing time in learning how to use my computer correctly. Since then, I've lived through the same months with the same letters in them and yet I've come out trouble free. If you think that's all luck then I wish you lots, because you're going to need it.

You can avoid trouble even when you know for a fact - because Microsoft publishes the details - that an update can cause problems.

Don't take my word for it - try it.
