Face-recognition not working after Windows 10 update 1709

After receiving the Windows upate 1709 (KB4041994) the Face Recognition doesn't allow my Surface Pro 4 to get into Windows. It recognizes me but stays on the login spash screen. I have to switch to a different login option to actually get into Windows.

I have the same problem as many of you.  I had to use my PIN number during initially logon because Face-recognition (hello) wasn't working.  Face-recognition would worked when my computer would go to sleep/hibernate but not if I shut down and re-boot.  I spent the better part of a day reloading drivers and trying all kinds of other things people were suggestion online.  Today I checked out another thread of questioning on this website titled "Windows 10 Creator Update must login twice" not thinking that was my problem at all but read the thread anyway.  The Microsoft rep replied to the login twice question with a suggestion and OMG when I tried it fixed my problem.  Since it sounds like a number of you might have the same problem as I was experiencing I thought I would pass this tip on... maybe it will fix your problem too.

Hi,

If you're having trouble with logging in on your PC twice, then you can try the following steps to remove double login:

  1. Go to Settings, then select Account.
  2. On the left panel, select Sign-in options.
  3. Under Privacy or Confidentiality section, turn off Use my sign in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart.

After doing so, reboot your PC and see if the same issue will occur.

    My facial recognition was working until my computer updated two days ago.  Now it will not work at all.

    Yep, exactly what i am seeing.

    And I agree with your previous posting: The Webcam works fine with Zoom, Skype, and other apps and recognizes me on a reboot.

    But won't log me in.

    However, the face recognition works fine on a wakeup from hibernate/sleep.

    Clearly a Microsoft problem...

    I'm having the same problem on my HP Spectre x360. It seems every Windows 10 update creates issues for my device. It's ridiculous. Last time the black screen upon startup, now this.

    To resolve your Facial Recognition issue, we suggest contacting the device manufacturer to assist you in downloading the most updated driver for your camera as what the other Community members did.

    Feel free to post back should you need further help.

    How about do some testing before launching new updates. Microsoft lately is getting real pain when it comes to updates. Bad thing is we can't even control updates they just run and break stuff. 

    My question to you is why are you insisting on contacting the device manufacturer when camera is working correctly? It does recognize face and says welcome but it get's stuck at welcome screen unless we use other option password or pin to sign in second time. Any idiot with little bit of computer knowledge can see it is clearly Microsoft issues. Stop fooling around millions of Microsoft users and find a fix. Look deeper into what updates where applied and you will find a fix.

    FYI: I did update my camera drivers and did all steps mentioned in different posts nothing worked so far. I am using 

    HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ac0XX
