To RoyBlank: my apologies. I was replying to jFiredog's reply to me, in which he pointed out that I forgot to undo some previous changes. The "Duh" was about me. Your post came in between, making it look like I was replying to you. No offense intended to you or anyone else.
Windows Live Mail and Calendars
Windows 10
Started today 11/20/2015 whenever I access Windows Live Mail (2012) I get an error message 'There was an error when attempting to connect to the Windows Live Calendar service, check to see if there's an upgrade of Windows Live Mail available or contact a service representative. I saw a reply for this problem dated 12/2014 but it did not address this problem in Win 10. Please advise. The PC was a Win 8.1 before the upgrade.
Thank you!

2015-11-26T00:12:41+00:00 Our replies crossed, I'm afraid. Thanks for your efforts, which go to show that the fault is entirely reproducible. This is the salient bit, which is identical in all the crash reports posted in this thread:
Faulting module name: wcsync.dll, version: 16.4.3563.918, time stamp: 0x55fc5749

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x0001e681 This may be enough for the devs to isolate the problem and fix it. If it isn't, they'll probably ask for fault bucket references. If and when they do, we'll post some instructions.

2015-11-25T23:59:08+00:00 That's much better, thank you.
I reported this issue about a week ago is all well and good, but when you report it in a different forum, it's not likely that those who are trying to deal with it - like me - will see it. This site receives millions of posts every month, so no-one can keep track of them all.
The 'upgrade' referred to was probably the 'update' you tried. There's a subtle and ill-defined difference between the two concepts.
I don't think you need to go through the troubleshooting procedures we've been trying out. Here is what I think we now know:
- Only those who don't regularly use DeltaSync to synchronize their Outlook.com mail account in Windows Live Mail have so far seen their account upgraded to Outlook Mail (Preview) (hereinafter referred to as OLP).
- When the upgrade takes place, DeltaSync stops working, because OLP doesn't support it. This affects three different functions: mail, calendar and contacts.
- Microsoft released a patch a couple of weeks ago to enable Windows Live Mail 2012 to use a different protocol, called Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), instead of DeltaSync. This is the same as that used by Office Outlook and other non-Windows apps like Outlook on iPhone and Android.
- EAS works well on Windows 7 and the calendar and contacts sync well. Mail is not quite so successful and there are some bugs that will hopefully be squashed. We have yet to see whether they also affect Windows 10 users.
- EAS works for Mail on Windows 10, but so far not for calendar and contacts. It might work for contacts, but no-one can find out because the calendar sync crashes the program. We have no experience with Windows 8.1 dinosaurs.
- Upshot for those whose accounts have been upgraded to OLP:
● No Windows 10 user can synchronize his contacts and calendar in Windows Live Mail.
● No user will be able to synchronize his mail account unless he installs the patch and also stops signing in in Windows Live Mail.
I think that sums up what we know so far.

2015-11-25T23:35:14+00:00 I ran through the various steps after disconnecting from the internet. Once all the steps were completed and Windows Live Mail was running, the error message "Windows Live Mail has stopped running and is restarting" appears. Here is the latest event log:

2015-11-25T22:50:02+00:00 I meant reinstall the program, not problem. Sorry for the mistake.
