Universal mobile keyboard won't work

The keyboard works fine while plugged in charging but as soon as it is unplugged to actually be mobile, like its name would suggest, it won't turn on. Even manually using the power/pair button on the side doesn't work. Am I missing something or does it sound like it's definitely broken?

    One Amazon reviewer opened up his faulty unit, and found that the battery is fine but the power socket is badly soldered on. 

    So it appears to be a manufacturing problem/design flaw with the power socket. 

    My keyboard retains it's charge after 3 days of trying to pair it with my phone(Idol 4S). The phone sees it, even gives me a PIN to enter but is simply unable to connect. At least in my case, it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. It's a shame really because I bought the phone specifically for the Continuum option :/

    I bought one feom Amazon, received it today and i have the same problem.

    Yes, this has happened to me too today. What a terrible Christmas present from Microsoft! 

    Seeing as this thread was started last Christmas, you would think someone at Microsoft would have paid attention by now?!
