Possible to watch movies I purchased on XBOX One on my Apple iPhone?

You would think Microsoft would want to get iOS and Andriod apps out there sooner rather than later. They have the best game/media living room solution out right now. I know Apple is about to explore the game/media console with their next iteration of the Apple TV. You'd think Microsoft would want to lock down their Apple/XBOX and Android owners with unifying bridges to their devices, thus extending the Microsoft ecosystem to a far greater array of devices. This would, in turn, make purchasing music and video from Microsoft a genuine no-brainer for Apple/XBOX owners as well as Android/XBOX owners.  I wonder if there is some kind of licensing issue on Apple hardware that prevents Microsift from creating such an app.

You can stream them over a browser once you sign in to your Microsoft account. I went to the store for videos and it had an option of "your video library" that's how I watch my Microsoft videos on my iPhone. Works pretty good

Hi.  The issue you're experiencing is the very issue I was having, which prompted me to start this thread discussion.  I've since come to appreciate that Apple, Microsoft, Google/Android, etc have their own ecosystems within which content such as music and movies are confined within their respective ecosystem. It is therefore, up to the consumer (you and I) to decide which ecosystem you will purchase said content. You will have to weigh that decision based on your individual setup and needs.  In my case I have an iPhone and a bunch of Mac computers and will soon get an Apple TV (once Apple irons out their TV contract service). But I also have an XBOX One where I watch HBO, Showtime, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. Since it is not possible to share movies and music across platforms, I've decided that going forth I will only buy movies from the Apple ecosystem - this way I can always port the videos to my iPhone and stream them to my TV and Mac computers.

In your current situation you do have the option of watching movies that you purchased from Microsoft on your Apple computer (or any computer for that matter) by just signing into your Microsoft account and playing the movie there. Of course this is also available to you if you have a Microsoft tablet and/or phone, but it is NOT available to you if you have an Android tablet/phone or iPad/iPhone. So, determine which platform will work best for you and buy with that ecosystem.  Lame, I know, but that's the way it is.

This is clearly a waste of money to purchase media and only be able to use it on one device. We pay the same amount for a hard copy and can play it anywhere. Apple has solved the problem a long time ago and Microsoft is playing catch up, pretty typical. 

I have to disagree.  Apple has NOT solved this problem as you can only watch iTunes movies in the Apple ecosystem.  You can watch movies bought from Microsoft on PCs, Xbox, Windows phones and tablets. For Apple, you can watch their movies on iPhones and iPads and PCs if you download iTunes.  In order to watch them on tv you have to spend $100 to buy an Apple TV device to stream them, or buy an iPhone  HDMI adapter to connect your phone to the tv.
