can anyone help, I can't open .exe files, I have windows 10

    When I try to run an exe program which will guide me through setting up my computer it says to open setup.exe.  It then tells me it cannot run setup.exe.  I have Windows 10 64 bit.

    yes i got an error message.

    I have microsoft office installed.

    No i did not make any changes by myself.

    Hi Derek,

    Thank you for keeping us updated on this issue.

    • Are you facing the same issue with a specified .exe file or all types of .exe files?
    • Is this the same file you used to face issue with in Windows 8.1?

    If you are facing the same issue with all files, please follow the steps below and check:

    1. Press Windows key+ R to open Run command.
    2. Type services.msc and press Enter.
    3. Search for Windows Installer and if it is stopped, right click on it and click on Start.

    Nothing happens . The computer just stops.

    I have the same problem with JPG files.

    1. nothing happens when I try to open file. I double click a .exe and it's like I am not doing anything
    2. no error message. when I try to download, I get error "your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded." with no other details. I click ok and it shows the downloads, I save as, it says can't download, I hit retry, and it downloads fine, but can't run/open it.
    3. none. Windows 10 has auto updates on.
    4. Yes have Office 365
