can anyone help, I can't open .exe files, I have windows 10

    Yes, I changed the "_" back to a "." in the executable file of the downloaded Chrome browser, which was downloaded using Microsoft's browser.  I was then able to install Chrome and make it my default browser.  Then, using Chrome, I downloaded the other programs and installed them with no problem.   Thank you for the solution to a vexing problem.

    Can u tell me what you are opening the file with? All I have is notebook and it doesn't work. I changed the _ to a . like you said

    I have spend countless hours searching for a solution, but with no success.  Windows 10 has beaten me.  I am going to install a new Windows 7 as an interim solution until I can go over to Linux -- which is what I should have done years ago.

    I ended up going into safe mode to get Malwarebytes installed that was able to identify several items of malware and quarantined it.  After that I was able to run .exe files again.
