Lumia 950XL 5ghz Wifi issue

So I have found when using my 5Ghz N network the phone will lose all WiFi networking.   On first use, it will connect up OK.  But let it sit and come back to it, it will have lost the WiFi network and the ability to see any other WiFi network with "no networks found".  Only a phone reboot will fix it until it happens again.

So far I've experienced it on my Linksys E8350 (supposed AC2400 and MIMO which the 950XL claims to support).  My Wifi router is set for Wireless A or N on 5Ghz, while it can do N, B, or G on 2.4

My workaround is to  only connect to the 2.4Ghz WiFi at this point. 

Anyone else experiencing complete WiFi radio failure like this?

    The only workaround is to stick with 2.4GHz until fixed. Even build .107 has this issue. Also enabling Hey Cortana will result in unbearable echo for the caller, so that cool feature is borged too.

    same for my 950xl. Reboot get back on wifi5 - within 1 hour all 5 nets go away. Needs to be fix with firmware! COme on ms get with it.

    That is valuable information. Next theory for your case: Windows phones do not scan for 5 GHz, when the connection to the SIM got lost. Therefore, please, use SIM-PIN to note reboots: All apps » Network & wireless » Cellular & SIM » SIM settings.

    1. Do you face any reboots before?
    2. Are you able to recover 5 GHz scanning through going for Airplane Mode?
    3. Which firmware version do you have: All apps » Settings » System » About » More info: 00017, 00027, or 00038?

    I am having that exact issue with my phone as well. The5GHz networks popup when they please and I can connect to just find that it has dropped and switched to ... LTE.

    Very annoying when you are on metered data plan and it happens while watching an HD movie...

    Any clues to when this might be resolved and does MSFT own it as a defect?

    To test your hypothesis all I have to do is unplug my router and I should start "seeing" all my neighbors' 5GHz signals.

    Please hold ....

    Test 1: Unplugged home router, rebooted 950 XL, waited 1 hour.  Results: No 5GHz signals

    Test 2: Left home, rebooted 950 XL, looked for other signals throughout the day for 8 hours. Results: No 5GHz signals

    Conclusion: It's the hardware!!
