Quiet Hours in Windows 10 Mobile

I recently upgraded my phone from the Nokia Lumia 1020 to the Nokia Lumia 950.  It came preloaded with Windows 10 Mobile.  While I am still learning to navigate the operating system on the phone, although it seems easy since I run Windows 10 on my PC, I am having difficulty with using the Quiet Hours function.  Using Windows 8.1 on my old phone allowed me to set up Cortana to block all calls during times when my calendar had been marked as busy.  This was great as I would just put my classes into my schedule and my students never heard my phone unless it was an emergency.  However, now it seems that the only way to set up Quiet Hours is to manually tell the phone to turn on the QH function or set it up for specific times regardless of my schedule.  It seems funny that this function went backwards when everything else went forward.  Is there any way to do it like I did before?

I appreciate your patience in this regard.

Quiet hours will turn on automatically at the times you've set. But you can still turn it on manually. When you go to Quiet hours setting it will give many flexible options that allows you to customize Quiet hours accordingly. Sat for example, you can set date on which the phone should enable the quite hours along with Start and End time. Basis to which Quiet hours will turn on automatically.

It also allows you to Edit break-through list. Where you can allow the emergency calls from desired contacts. Moreover Cortana will also send text to contacts who aren't allowed through, saying that I'm busy at the moment.

With regard to the desired task or event sync from the Calendar app, I suggest you to post your feedback using Windows feedback app, which will helps us to look into this with future updates. This will helps us to improve your experience.

    Thanks for taking the time to detail your experience. I did roll back last week and I, too, am happier with 8.1. A calendar-tagged QH is critical to me as I swing in-out of meetings quite frequently almost every day of the week. Automatic QH works perfectly as it should on 8.1. I realize that I might have lost some advanced features in the downgrade, but I hope to go back to 10 once the bugs have been fixed. WP 10 needs to mature, in my view. This includes catching up of app developers, too. I have come across a few apps that function well on 8.1, but not so much on 10. "here transit" for example pulled the plug on WP 10 altogether. Although Cortana uses the "here" engine, but its interface is not nearly useful or informative. Let's keep fingers crossed and watch WP10 grow with interest 😊

    well, yes, it is a factory reset (I used the Windows Device Recovery Tool to set it back again) ....

    Be sure you've done a backup first and be aware that certain W10M apps don't have equivalents in WP8.1.  But...even if it takes a little time getting things set up again as you like them, I've found that it's worth it.  (partly because I see W10M as a very qualified step forward - or maybe it's a step sideways - for every neato thing you gain, it seems you also lose something you really liked). 

    Anyway, I've been happily back on WP8.1 for several weeks and am quite happy to stay here for now until the Anniversary update happens.  Though.... once the Starbucks app comes out or if this quiet hours issue is fixed in the mean time with an incremental build, I might change my mind  :)

    How. When asking Cortana to set quiet hours for specific time range, it turned it on immediately and ignored the time.

    Auto-setting of Quiet Hours when the Calendar shows "busy" is an essential feature for me - after trying to live without it on my Lumia 640XL for a couple of weeks, I rolled back my phone's O/S to WM8.1.  Hopefully the feature will return in the Anniversary update.

    I think I am going to follow suit. Did you lose data, or critical setting features, in rolling back. The girl at my local MS Store scared the **** out of me by implying that rolling back to WM8.1 is synonymous to a factory reset. Not sure if she really knew what she was talking about, or just sticking to company narrative in promoting WM10.  Thanks for sharing your experience.
