Age of Mythology - Windows 10

I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.

I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.

I also have this same problem with black and white 2.

I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.

Can you provide any suggestions please.

    i didn't read all the comments im sure someone had sujjested it, 

    if your computer is capable of running win10 when im sure it could handle aom or any other simular game in virtual mode

    just install virtual drive with win xp and play games from it

    After hours of researching & testing, I have found a solution that works for my computer. Thought I'd share it as I understand the toil of not being able to play such a great game!

    Essentially, the problem was with secdrv.sys, a copy-protection file that AoM relies on. Apparently support for it on my Windows 8.1 OS was lacking when running this 2002-released game. I used this command in the command prompt (run as Admin): 

    sc config secdrv start=auto

    For those who don't know the location

    DirectPlay can be found in Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off > Legacy Components.

    This should be enabled on all gaming machines.

    I cannot guarantee this will work for everyone, however I have found a work around for my own versions of AoE III (expansions as well) and AoM (Extended Edition). When testing Warcraft 3 and seeing no issue, I decided to try out my Asian Dynasties expansion for AoE III, it told me that Windows required an app called "DirectPlay" to run it. I installed it and restarted AoE III: The Asian Dynasties, et viola! It worked!

    I then tested AoM:EE and sure enough, it worked. I did not actually attempt to PLAY, merely getting past the failure to load was enough to make me come straight here and at least share this discovery with everyone, as from my previous reading a few hours ago on this thread, it is not like the Microsoft staff seem to care enough, or potentially even know this works.

    I hope this helps someone else at least, if not everyone else.
