"Error 1" when installing "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework

Hello,

I see a C:\Windows\System32\catroot and wondered if this is about WU as well, sicne you had me rename catroot2 near the start of this thread? 

I am now receving "Error 1" when installing "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64 (KB3037581)"

Any ideas?

    I ran WU and checked Check for updates - and no updates were found - except the defination update for MSE.

    Not sure why .NET was installed - I think I hada program that required the .NET but prior version - or maybe Staples installed it?

    I...ran MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and ADWCleaner which cleaned out some entries and folders as needed.  I also reset WU [but the following updates still failed to install]

    2894854

    2931368

    2972107

    2972216

    2979578

    2898869

    2901126  [SOURCE]

    Is KB3037581 (May 2015), KB2894854 (December 2013), KB2931368 (May 2014), KB2972107 (October 2014), KB2972216 (September 2014), KB2979578 (October 2014), KB2898869 (February 2014), and/or KB2901126 (February 2014) listed in Installed Updates (not Update History)?

    Can you tell us why .NET Framework v4.5, .NET Framework v4.5.1, and/or .NET Framework v4.5.2 was installed to begin with?

    It's the free MBAM - someone had suggested I scan for malware

    Yes I have restored all the REG backups..... 

    And yes, the same computer as those 3 threads....

    It seems to be a reporting problem with CCleaner.  I have snipped 5 JPG files for the Progams and Features programs list - the public link is: http://1drv.ms/1FexkFA

    I'll contact CCleaner support about the reporting error.

    The obvious inference is that they have been installed twice. Of course it could simply be a reporting error.

    Are they showing twice in Programs and Features? Select Start, Control Panel, Programs and Features.

    In cCleaner are the file paths to the duplications identical?
