KB3038314 which was recently deployed by Windows update refuses to install. This is a 64 bit Win 7 Pro machine running IE 11. I've tried both the Windows Update web install method and downloading the update separately and both methods fail. The update is part of MS15-032 released on April 14 (Patch Tuesday). Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution? After the update fails there is a failure code of 80092004 displayed and a message that says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error. I have tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool and uninstalling IE 11 and reinstalling. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I also had the same trouble . I hid the update and got 2 additional updates for IE 11 , but the problem still exists that when you try to manage your add-ons you cannot change your accelerators the page
will do nothing . Microsoft you need to step your game up with these two problems
One thing that I'll add that I don't see anyone else noting is that the update fails during the download at 11% - all the time, for me.
I'm trying to install it on a system that has a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. No other software has been installed at this point. Right now I'm doing an in place upgrade to see if that helps, otherwise, I'm stuck trying some of the things that people have suggested earlier on in this thread.
i same have this problem. My previous browser version 8. I'm install Internet Explorer 11 and i restart OS. Next i click Windows Update. In the list available update for IE11, i click update and i have error with code 80092004 ((

Hiding the update did nothing for me other than to show no updates were needed. Nothing new popped up.

This worked for me, I hid the cumulative security update that kept giving me the fail error message and when I checked for updates again, I got 2 cumulative updates with different KB numbers. I installed the one with the KB number that I hadn't installed before and it went thru. I'm assuming that I don't have to install the other one, they both state they are cumulative security updates, the only thing different is the KB numbers. I hid this one again and did a check updates again and nothing came up.
