Windows update KB3004394  causes the following issues on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system:

All MMC functions (Event Viewer, etc.) now require Administrator action, although in an Administrator account.

Windows Defender service will not start

The Windows Defender Service Terminated with the following error

%%-2147023113

Removing it  returns the system to normal.

Anyone else experience this?

Because they just pulled it a little bit ago off the MU servers.

Windows home server 2011 having the same issue as well. I'm just curious to why it shows up and then after uninstalling it is no longer available to install?

I just sync'd my WSUS server and yes, KB3004394 has been "expired" for Windows 7 and Server 2008 r2.

Well I definitely do not know the full ins and outs of WU/MU so I thought I would educate myself.

    I uninstalled KB3004394

I unchecked "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates"

    I rebooted my PC

On checking for updates KB3004394 is not listed under 43 optionals (no important updates).

I rechecked "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates", rebooted my PC and checked for updates again - still the same 43 optional updates (still no important updates). So to me it looks like KB3004394 has been "pulled"?
