Because they just pulled it a little bit ago off the MU servers.
Windows update KB3004394 issues
Windows update KB3004394 causes the following issues on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system:
All MMC functions (Event Viewer, etc.) now require Administrator action, although in an Administrator account.
Windows Defender service will not start
The Windows Defender Service Terminated with the following error
%%-2147023113
Removing it returns the system to normal.
Anyone else experience this?

2014-12-11T00:29:37+00:00 Windows home server 2011 having the same issue as well. I'm just curious to why it shows up and then after uninstalling it is no longer available to install?

2014-12-11T00:27:08+00:00 I just sync'd my WSUS server and yes, KB3004394 has been "expired" for Windows 7 and Server 2008 r2.

2014-12-11T00:11:32+00:00 Well I definitely do not know the full ins and outs of WU/MU so I thought I would educate myself.
I uninstalled KB3004394
I unchecked "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates"
I rebooted my PC
On checking for updates KB3004394 is not listed under 43 optionals (no important updates).
I rechecked "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates", rebooted my PC and checked for updates again - still the same 43 optional updates (still no important updates). So to me it looks like KB3004394 has been "pulled"?
