Windows 8.1 Store Not working

Yesterday I upgraded to windows 8.1. after installing my programs, I launched the Windows Store, and to my surprise, it said: "We weren't able to connect to the Store. This might have happened because of a server problem or the network connection timed out. please wait a few moments and try again.(0x800072efd)

I googled the error code and visited multiple forums and followed the instructions, and after a few hours, it still said exactly the same. I have tried wsreset.exe, messing around with the firewall, tried refreshing my computer and rebooting multiple times. could anybody please help me with this problem?

sincerely,

Ryan

    Is this what you want?

    That makes no sense but I think it could explain your symptoms.

    Do you get any different results if you don't try to limit the number of trials? (E.g. just do the command without that -q parameter.) You would just have to wait longer to see the statistics (which strangely you didn't get to see at all.)

    Oh. Maybe it does. It could just mean that ICMP is not allowed by the second node. Then if you always get that node as second you would never be able to do any network connectivity checks such as ping, tracert or pathping.

    BTW I don't think you would be revealing anything by disclosing the destination except the region that your DNS was picking for you. E.g. here's what my nslookup shows

    Non-authoritative answer:

Name:    e3375.g.akamaiedge.net

Address:  172.229.226.58

Aliases:  wscont.apps.microsoft.com

wscont-scdn.windows.akadns.net

wscont.apps.microsoft.com.edgekey.net

    Notice that the host name is the same but the IP address is significantly different. That is part of what I am wondering about. With that host I can get there in 5 hops.

    Heh. Today it's 11 and it was not allowed to measure all the hops:

    10  ---      14/  14 =100%    14/  14 =100%  Akamai_bx7-newyork83 [184.150.181.179]

0/  14 =  0%

11   67ms     0/  14 =  0%     0/  14 =  0%  a172-229-226-58.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com [172.229.226.58]

    How do I get PathPing results, google came up with nout.

    In this thread. There were under 40 posts here so you could have used the RSS view of it and used the Displaying filter to find it. Anyway, that's what I did to find the link I mentioned to Ryan

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_store/message-saying-my-connection-is-too-slow/2561e200-34b8-4551-98dd-6587c8529fd4#LastReply

    Actually I mentioned pathping in another thread about Store problems recently too and Answers is being uncooperative about letting me find it. I want to find it because I think it is the only place where I gave some explicit suggested syntax

    <quote>

    pathping  wscont.apps.microsoft.com -q 14

    </quote>

    Apparently I misinterpreted the -q switch. Or at least it isn't working out the way it sounds like it should:

    -q num_queries Number of queries per hop.

    I just wanted to reduce the server overhead in case everybody started doing these things. I think the default of 100 is excessive.

    The most significant thing I think will be the tracert that it does at the beginning. The other statistics are just extras that pathping does for us.

    I'm not expecting you to show us the whole thing but it would be interesting to know if you get blocked somewhere or ideally if you get where you would expect to go with just a few hops (which was my initial observation) or (something that would also probably explain your symptom) if you end up somewhere unexpected, e.g. in a different server cluster than you would normally. Etc.
