I agree with you, definitely. Giving a date would be a professional manner.

However, in the world of Nokia and now Microsoft Mobile I am not aware of anyone you could ask for such a date. We have these Product Codes since the beginning of Nokia, back in the 90ies. They identify the firmware variant you have. Nokia had the policy to deliver the firmware when it is ready, and not when all variants get the same version. Therefore, some variants are early, some are late, and some do not get an update at all. Nokia did not accept the frustration created by this behaviour. We have to mention this in every thread again, and again. Competitors do this different. Until now, this habit was taken over to Microsoft Mobile and now Microsoft – therefore that ‘you bought a Nokia’ statement. I am just trying to explain the situation we have since the Nokia days. Until now, it did not make sense to chase up with anyone for anyone. It was just a waste of time.

You cannot conclude from one update to another. Next time, your operator may choose to jump over that update and wait for the next update. Or Next time, you could be the first to get the update. Or stated differently: You cannot do anything, just wait. Asking or going for anyone just wastes everyones time. You bought a Nokia.

Other than checking back in this, and other similar threads, could you please tell me how I can quickly check the date on which Microsoft released a new OS or Firmware update for the Lumia 640, so that if I haven't received it within a few weeks I can then chase up my airtime provider, and be able to tell them just how long I have been waiting!
