I lost 2-desktops that day. (3-11-2015)
Vista Home Premium / Pentium D
Win 7 / Core 2 Duo
My third desktop / Win 7 / Quad Core is working just fine.
The update has been installed...there were no problems at all. (kb3033929)
===
The Vista machine was built in 2006 by me.
The Win 7 was built around the year 2009.
===
The Vista PC was developing problems many-many months ago.
But my Core 2 Duo has always been a perfect desktop.
===
What I did notice the day it died, was a Mis-Match during start up...something about a Media Mis-Match.
The screen was black with the cursor right at center screen.
I did a couple of restarts, trying to get to my desktop screen.
But eventually, F2 into system set up, showed a dead RAM Module present.
There was never a Error Message about loss of RAM...or changes.
===
I tried to use my Image Recovery HDD. (external recovery method)
It brought me right back to the black screen with the cursor sitting there in the middle of the screen.
I tried my OS install DVD.
It seemed to complete way to quickly.
And I was again--stuck--with a black screen and a cursor.
===
At that, I unplugged the machine and pulled all the RAM Modules and PCIexpress cards.
I unplugged the motherboard and pulled the COIN-Batt.
The desktop is sitting off in the distance.
I checked the COIN-Batt with a multi-tester and it showed 3.1 volt.
===
I'll try a Clean Re-Install again, using the DVD OS.
My Quad Core PC (i5) is running great.
