I'm having problems with the KB3033929 update from the latest run of Tuesday patches. After installation the PC reboots, but during the boot up configuration of the patch it fails and Windows starts reverting the configuration and reboots. And then it starts all over again a couple of times until it eventually boot into Windows. OK - after browsing around I found that the problem appears to be associated with the bootloader. My system is dual boot. I have Windows on one SSD with its original bootloader. Another SSD holds Ubuntu 14.10 with a GRUB bootloader - this is set to boot first in the BIOS. My files are on a separate HDD. Here's what worked for me. Set the Windows drive to be the boot drive in the BIOS. Reboot into Windows (i.e., avoiding GRUB). Run Microsoft Update again and allow the install to complete along with restart. It did so without any issues. Restart computer and reset BIOS to place the Ubuntu SSD first in the boot order. All working normally and confirmed that KB3033929 has been installed. Not sure why the bootloader should be a problem. I have another machine that runs Windows 7 Home and Ubuntu on a partitioned drive - GRUB is the bootloader and yet there were no issues with the update. Could it be that the 64 bit update is the problem??

As a reply to your question, PA Bear MS MVP, I checked that KB3035131 shows as installed update, but KB3033929 is not listed as installed update. The system on which the installation of KB3033929 failed has Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. I have several workstations and I succeeded to install KB3033929 via Windows Update on a system with Windows 7 Professional SP1.

I'm having the same problem. The Update KB3033929 fails to configure on reboot. My log shows that KB3035131 was successfully installed yesterday, and it is listed in the log before KB3033929. Since installation in October 2014, and until today, no updates have failed or been skipped for any reason. I believe I had the exact same problem on the same machine with the previous update KB2949927 mentioned in the KB3033929 advisory last October. In October I found I had to reinstall Windows and all application software on that machine to finally install KB2949927. It gives me no joy to learn from the KB3033929 Advisory that Microsoft has apparently not found the installation problem and chose to release a similar broken update a second time. While it is probable that major governments and some major corporations can dedicate the resources necessary to break SHA-1, that's probably not the weakest point in the security infrastructure of Microsoft Windows. I suggest that the SHA-2 authentication of downloaded programs supported by KB3033929 can wait until this installation problem is found. I respectfully request that Microsoft once again rescind the update, and correct the problem before releasing a similar update a third time. If Microsoft needs a customer to help isolate the specific problem, I would be willing to spend the time necessary to get it done. My machine is a 6-core Windows 7 Ultimate workstation running a rather diverse collection of applications.

Same for me Widows 7 SP1 Pro and the KB3035131 is already installed Tried WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab tool but problem is alwaye here
