Groove does not display any Album or Artist Art

I've been using the excellent MP3Tag for many years to tweak the tag data and manage my music collection, ripped from my CDs using dbPoweramp. I use AAC (for portable player use) and FLAC exclusively (not MP3). When I tried Groove after updating to Windows 10 last week, it found all the files just fine, AAC and FLAC, but none of my album cover art is displayed by Groove. The album art is embedded in the tag data.

The tag data is still there. iTunes (cough), Zune and the venerable WMP all still show the album art. MP3Tag and Squeezebox still show the cover artwork.

Groove does seem to have a problem reading artwork from the tag data embedded in the file.

Any further ideas?

Thanks for the detailed reply! I download and ran Mp3tag as you suggested (nice program btw!), but Groove still doesn't display the images. Are you sure it is based on ID3?

It can display, you just have to embed or hope for a match. Unfortunately, the app is not sophisticated enough to help you with that task. :(

I have ~2k albums, and all are currently displaying artwork. I have also been curating with Tag & Rename

for so long that my collection looks good in any program. :)

This is what worked for me.  I don't know how the 2 relate, but it's all working now...

Go into File Explorer, click View > Options.  Then open the View tab again in this menu.

Deselect the option that says "always show icons, never thumbnails"

Enjoy album art from any folder (well, in my case anyway)

Groove interface is nice but this tag problem is a deal breaker.

I'm using Winamp to play my MP3s. I'm feeling in the 90's.

Funny how almost 20 years weren't enough for developers to make a better player.

I liked Foobar too but the control buttons are too small. It must be really difficult to make a simple easy-to-use music player, but I have faith in humanity and in the future of Science and Technology!
