Directplay on Windows 10

I can`t install DirectPlay .

When I tried to play Game in windows 10 it asked to install DirectPlay feature. I`ve  clicked on 'install this feature' it went on searching for a few seconds & then showed an error 0x800FFFF. Every  time I try same happening....

    DirectPlay is available under Windows 10 features. If you Open Control Panel, and click on Programs and Features, and select Turn Windows features on or off.  If you scroll down the list to Legacy Components, you can click the check box for **DirectPlay.**Checking this box, enables the installation of DirectPlay on demand, which means as needed. So, this will enable you to install it if a game or some other program requires it.

    I had the same problem with AoMithology. Try to run the game in Windows XP compatibility and then the installation of DirectPlay will be succesful.

    This was definitely not helpful

    Like I said before, you may need to copy DPLAY.DLL to the game folder.

    In the control panel, add/remove change windows feature, make sure legacy components are enabled to have it available etc.

    Here's another one: The option in control panel doesn't activate. After restart DirectPlay is deactivated. Nice work Microsoft. All my old games I love became useless. Also all the updates from December don't install. Everything asks for a restart and after restart we are back to square one. The people hired to do a job are becoming dumber and dumber.

    I fixed this problem by temporarily disabling my antivirus, and then installing DirectPlay, and then restarting the game in question (Lords of the Realm II if you're curious). Nothing else seemed to work. It appears that something about DirectPlay is blocked by some kinds of antivirus software. Hopefully that helps!
