Anyone know what CompatTelRunner.exe is/does?

This is the stripping of our individual rights to privacy and our protection of our own personal data and Intellectual property.

Microsoft wants to say this is intended as a security and stability feature?

Tell people what it really is, its absolute control over our individual rights to privacy and security when it is taken this far.

I happen to agree with the parts about stopping data piracy and theft, this has been a plague on the internet for a long time, every time somebody is downloading and using pirated software, its stealing a meal out of the mouth of developers, their families, and software companies just trying to make it in the market.

But when they take it another step further, and get the government agencies involved to the point where we can't even speak our minds freely over the internet without threat of persecution, or to create intellectual property that is our own without prying eyes.. That is not only wrong, but it is insane.

We as a free society need to stand united against this NOW.

This is about freedom, freedom to express how we feel in a free society, freedom to create and imagine ideas that are our own, freedom to handle how we as a society move forward in this time of Technological advancement.

Systems like this telemetry collecting everything we do and say on the internet is choking off our freedoms and how we use our computers, and taking away our freedoms, its not helping us advance as a free society.

Stopping piracy and data theft is one thing, but when Microsoft is doing exactly what they want us NOT to do?

There has to be a better way.

This is completely unacceptable for microsoft to be spying on every little thing we do with our own Personal machines, and then using it as a threat of persecution by saying they will relay it directly to authorities should they deem it "necessary".

I agree.   The combination of the 'CLOUD', "Microsoft" and "Google" is not only ruining the huge advantages

the Internet gave us but are also prying into our PRIVACY without any barriers.

So typical.  Big business will takeover anything and everything for the $$, regardless of the damage it causes.

Typical Virus's don't scare me anymore...I can control and stop them. 20 years playing with computers and freely using the internet, I have NEVER had a successful virus attack on me.

MICROSOFT, the CLOUD and GOOGLE are the current VIRUS and will get worse as long as they continue unstopped to implement their DATA GATHERING features.

That is the compatibility update for win 7 RTM.  Care to tell us more about the problem?

The above link tells you what this executable does and what it was designed to do. It is not malware unless Microsoft has gone into that as a business. Personally, I think that is what Win10 is...it holds you captive, with very few options.

I will move to MAC before I install Win10.
