New MSN homepage not loading slideshows

I am running windows 8 and was converted to the new MSN homepage. The page itself loads just fine. However, for articles that are slideshows, the main images do not show up. I can see the entire article page and even the thumbnails. The main picture screen remains blacked out. I can not click the thumbnails and there are no arrows to advance the show. I do not see that the page is waiting on any items to load. The box for the image loads, just remains blacked out with thumbnails on the bottom of the box.

I have tried open MSN on both IE10 and google chrome.

As I've said, the page loads correctly, I can even go to the source of the article and view the slideshow on their webpage just fine.

I have no problems with videos or text articles. I thought maybe it was pop- up blockers, etc. but turned them off and restarted with no luck.

Any ideas why only articles with slideshows do not work?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Community. Sorry to hear that slideshows of MSN Homepage not appearing correctly.

Sometimes websites don't look like you expect them. This might be caused by a compatibility problem between Internet Explorer and the site you're on.

Open the website in Compatibility View. Once you turn on Compatibility View, Internet Explorer will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by removing it from your compatibility list.

Fix site display problems with Compatibility View.

Same experience with videos in the new MSN.com. Firefox works (so does my Windows Phoned 8.1 and my Android tablet), but not I.E. 11 or Chrome.

Hopefully, Microsoft is monitoring this site and will look into this. As it stands now, Firefox is (still) the way to go.

Thank you all for your responses. My last option was that it was a problem with my security suite. It turned out to be just fine.

You would think that MSN would have worked the bugs out with IE first. Chrome surprises me as well. I have tried new homepages and my next step is to change to Firefox.

My home page slideshow is working fine but when I click on the picture which take me to Money, Weather or Auto...then the slideshow on those home page won't work just like the original poster said.  I'm using Windows 8.1 and IE 11 64-bit version.  I tried Compatibility View, cleared the browsing history and reinstalled IE11.  nothing works!  I tried it with Firefox and everything works. Did they forget to test it with IE11?  BTW, I have to use Firefox to post this because IE11 wouldn't respond after I clicked Submit.

Here is your best solution:  Firefox - rocks.

I couldn't agree more about Firefox. I've only been using it for about a year, but I love it. And AdBlocker Plus is the best browser plugin ever invented.

For me, it's not an issue with compatibility mode. I have the same problem with Google Chrome.

I was already in compatibility mode in IE. MSN is on my comp. list already.

I checked my anti virus security suit for anything that could be stopping the page for displaying correctly, and found nothing.

I have gone through google chrome settings and didn't find anything obvious.

Any other ideas or settings to try?

Somebody in another thread yesterday had success by REMOVING MSN from the compatibility mode settings list. I suppose it couldn't hurt. You could always add it back if it doesn't work.
