New MSN homepage not loading slideshows

I am running windows 8 and was converted to the new MSN homepage. The page itself loads just fine. However, for articles that are slideshows, the main images do not show up. I can see the entire article page and even the thumbnails. The main picture screen remains blacked out. I can not click the thumbnails and there are no arrows to advance the show. I do not see that the page is waiting on any items to load. The box for the image loads, just remains blacked out with thumbnails on the bottom of the box.

I have tried open MSN on both IE10 and google chrome.

As I've said, the page loads correctly, I can even go to the source of the article and view the slideshow on their webpage just fine.

I have no problems with videos or text articles. I thought maybe it was pop- up blockers, etc. but turned them off and restarted with no luck.

Any ideas why only articles with slideshows do not work?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Community. Sorry to hear that slideshows of MSN Homepage not appearing correctly.

Sometimes websites don't look like you expect them. This might be caused by a compatibility problem between Internet Explorer and the site you're on.

Open the website in Compatibility View. Once you turn on Compatibility View, Internet Explorer will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by removing it from your compatibility list.

Fix site display problems with Compatibility View.

Or it might be caused by the New MSN flat-out sucking.

Thank you for the sites. I am going to try them because now I think MSN is just messing with me.

I went back to MSN homepage and now it will no longer let me customize the page. I can't get rid of sports, money, and auto. I had hidden them from the beginning of the new site mess and now I am stuck with them.

Tried by both the edit tab and going into the settings cog wheel. What in the world?? Are they trying to loose folks? Don't even care to try and fix it because I am jumping ship.

The only page I had ever used (since the 90's) has been MSN. Now, I can't stand them. Way to go MSN!!

Agreed!! I have tried so many different things. I followed up on the other thread you had suggested and dealt with the shockwave player an active x, etc. I don't want to risk my computer or put myself through anymore time to try and fix this. The new MSN is just not worth it to me. I am using other sites.

Thank you for trying to help me.

There is a reason I am having problems, but like I said......at this point, it is not worth it to me to even care about it anymore.

Thanks. There are other sites with truly customizable and personalized home pages. Give My Yahoo a try, or ustart.org, protopage.com or ighome.com. Best of luck to you.
