SFC cannot fix corrupted files in Windows 7 -- Windows Update for May 2015?

I believe we have a system wide problem!  No, I am not kidding.  I routinely run SFC on computers and it almost always returns a report of no problems or not often but sometimes reports that it found problems and fixed them.  Rarely, it reports corruption found and not fixed.  In those instances the only way I know to fix this in Windows 7 is to re-build the OS.

 In the past several days I have run SFC on 5 different computers all running Windows 7, but in different places, used by different people. 

All report SFC found corrupted files and was unable to fix them.

I do not know if there is corruption, if SFC is itself incorrect, let alone how to fix this.  There is suspicion that the May 2015 patches may have caused this.

    Woody Leonhard's article said it was an optional update.  But, like you, mine is categorized as "important".

    I have grown more and more concerned about what Microsoft categorizes as "Important" updates.  I suspect they may be looking through the lens of what is important to Microsoft more than the lens of what is important for their customers' computers.

    KB3035583 which enables Microsoft adware is a stunning example.  There are various reports, but KB3035583 sure showed up on my computers as "Important."

    Microsoft is taking advantage of a respected institution -- Windows Update -- to promote things and may not be paying enough attention to non-Windows 10 things.  Windows Update is considered by most as an essential if not integral part of what you do to keep your Windows system safe.   These kinds of mistakes and moves damage this, what should be treasured reputation. 

    I understand they are about to take Windows Update behind the curtain in Windows 10 -- meaning if I understand correctly, the user (read "owner") of the computer will not be in the Windows update loop, meaning it will take place without your even knowing it.

    Hi It was not an optional update on my computer. It was listed as an important update. I very rarely download optional updated.

    I can not begin to find a way to thank you.  You just nailed it. 

    Like you I removed KB3022345, restarted, then ran SFC again.  No corruption!

    Now, the really big question is what is the down side of removing this update?  Please someone provide some insight here.

    I was right.  This affects at least every Windows 7 SP1 computer that has installed this "optional" update.  I have always been wary of the increasing numbers of so called optional updates.  This experience makes me more wary.

    Yes, I panicked because going back some time I had corrupt files and the only way I could fix it was by doing an upgrade repair install.  I am just glad that I checked and noticed that KB3022345 was installed on 13th May. After I uninstalled it of course it came back. I hid it so I hope that it does not come back again in another form!
