mouse lag in video games since updating to win 8.1

hi all ive noticed that in some games in win 8.1 there is serious mouse lag . this makes some games almost unplayable now. this is a serious issue especially since many gamers upgraded for the benefits ingames but now cant play do to the mouse lag issues.

for me its in call of duty 4 aka modern warfare 1. there are numerous articles now about this issue and with certain games .

as you can see this isnt a isolated issue and needs fixing asap. especially with many big titles just coming in the next few weeks on pc !

We have issued a fix to address most of the “mouse lag” issues associated with gaming in Windows 8.1, which vary based on the game, input methods used, etc. More details on the issue and available resolutions are available via KB 2908279, and affected customers can go to the Microsoft Download Center to install the update

    What do you mean did I add it to the registry? I downloaded Mouse Movement Recorder and run the Programme!

    I have read the update page, but still have a question. Since mouse polling check tools need to have the registry extension applied to them, does that mean only the games/programs/applications that have had this extension applied will receive the full poll rate capable of the mouse used?

    In other words, will my 1000 Hz Logitech mouse only be 1000 Hz in applications I've manually edited in the registry?

    Programs that use Raw Input or that use DirectInput to read the mouse are not affected, and don't need the Microsoft fix.

    So also mouse polling check tools that use Raw Input or that use DirectInput are not affected, and that includes dimr.exe and dx_mouse_timer_dialog.exe

    Mouse polling check tools that don't use Raw Input and don't use DirectInput are affected and will need to be added to the fix, and that includes MouseRate.exe

    Your 1000Hz mouse will be 1000Hz in applications that either:

    • Use Raw Input, or
    • Use DirectInput, or
    • They are already included in Microsoft's fix, or
    • You have manually edited the registry for them.
