I too am a share-holder; somewhat larger than yours. Right now enjoying the dividend. But, if the company is so horribly run that they release garbage into the wild for customers to "experiment" with... maybe its time to dump the shares and buy AEP or AMNF... both pay a dividend, with good businesses. At least AMNF will send you free samples (great pesto)!

Honestly, comparing Apple to Linux, go apple. Better ecosystem, smoother updates. Linux is still in the "which distro you got" and the dependency packaging is funky. Drivers are better than Linux and more commercial software offerings and comparable line of business solutions. Microsoft believes they have publicly acknowledged the issue by revising it for the one main issue most were getting, and then putting in the KB the 'known issues'. [Elephant on the table] The rest of you guys are facing a rebuild. There's no easy answer here and no quick fix that I can see. If Microsoft truly mandated customer service as a core tenant they would be ensuring that each and everyone of you impacted would receive repair media. Because they have OEMs that provide the hardware and build the majority of the systems, they put the blame/lay the burden on the OEMs. OEMs point the finger at Microsoft for setting policies regarding media. Meanwhile legit customers are forced to look to questionable sources for media to do repair installs. I do not see a magical solution coming from Redmond, folks. I'm discouraged, disgusted and frankly questioning my sanity of volunteering for this company that treat their customers so horribly bad. As a shareholder of this company (trust me I owe so few shares, I'm a rounding error), I still would like to publicly apologize on behalf of Microsoft for how all of you have been treated.

@ AltanYazici , I conveyed the message to Level 2 that Microsoft needs to improve communications. On the other hand, I have been involved in similar crisis situations where trying to get the problem resolved and hope for a miracle prevents effective communication to customers. If the number of users affected by this update is accurate, I am surprised that I can get through to anyone at Microsoft. Although I am not impressed by what has happened, I have confidence that Microsoft will resolve the problem. Both of my laptops are functional and the lack of Update 1 on one of them is not a showstopper. Now it is time to get back to my 'day job' (:-).

Actually the error is for update 2919355? Maybe you left out one digit? P.S. I tried every possible suggestion online in in every forum I could find. Nothing worked. I still get the same error. The computer sometimes locks up and I'd have to turn it off 2-3 times before it would boot back to the desktop.

Same problem.. "Couldn't complete the updates etc...." In view update history error 80246007 shows up. Any ideas how to fix this?
