Error: We couldn’t complete the updates, Undoing changes. Don’t turn off your computer.

This error may appear anytime a Windows Update fails. To investigate possible solutions, we need to start with the specific error code.

We can do this by viewing your update history.

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), and tap or click Settings.
2. Tap or click Change PC settings, and then Update and recovery.
3. Tap or click View your update history.

View failed update error code.

Please post here with your error code, so that the Community can try to help guide you appropriately.

the last of repeated failures was on 15/4/2015 and error code 802400B

Error code: WindowsUpdate_dt000 OR 800F0922 has no real explanation when I looked it up.

If you look through this thread you will find a meaning for it where people have shown where it occurred in their CBS.log

Otherwise, also mentioned in here, you can get a clue about its category from the old list of codes which has been kept by Support and never updated.

Notice that that list ends with  0xf0901  so we can expect that there are other codes (e.g. from 0xF0902 to 0xF0921) which could be seen that are also not documented there.

Error code: WindowsUpdate_dt000 OR 800F0922 has no real explanation when I looked it up. Help please

Nothing I tried corrected this problem. It went on for about a year now. While reading various posts I realized that the computer did this very shortly after purchasing it.  

The issue may have been that when I lap linked my old computer and transferred data, files and programs to the new laptop, some older programs also transferred over. For some reason, the old "transferred" programs started preventing the completion of Window updates.  If you didn't transfer programs, perhaps one or two you downloaded and installed are causing it for some install ROOT KITS to monitor your computer activities and thereby, they prevent security updates for WINDOWS.

I finally broke down and "refreshed" (through RECOVERY) the computer which caused it to purge all the old programs and others that I downloaded along the past year.

Not to worry, the refresh function prints out a list of the purged programs for you to re-install but you need to do it from the CD directly as purchased.

Now the computer does full updates with no problems. So, the last two days it has been useless as it performed all the updates.

CAUTION:

Make sure to create a RECOVERY CD before doing anything, just in case.

Back up all your personal files, documents, photos, music etc.. onto an external hard drive because you may lose some of them.

Backup your .pst or any associated contact and old email files for your email programs, you will need them when you re-install the program.

Trying to press 4 to access the safe mode didn't work to my computer. It still went back to that annoying 'undo changes' and run forever, so I have to reset the PC finally losing all the files. Windows 8.1 is so weak, and I am considering to install back to windows 7.
