I got a message saying each of them was "unknown"and again referring to error 87. I did not make a typo @ showmethefacts , what is the exact text of the message you get when you go to an Admin prompt and type 'dism /?'. Also check the size and date of dsm.exe in c:\windows\system32. Mine (Windows 8.1 64bit) shows '2014-02-22 04:36 AM 275,456 Dism.exe'. I have reported the problem with getting support through http://www.answers.microsoft.com and http://www.support.microsoft.com to Microsoft.

did not make a typo OK. That is just the most likely reason. Another one is that the version of dism changed after KB2919355 so if you are using an old version it might be able to try to interpret a command line but do nothing else. In fact, in one incident I helped someone on it looked as if there was a mixup between the 32- and 64-bit versions.
