USB port malfunctioning, always says "USB Device not recognized"

What version of windows was the game made for? You don't have the specs for the game do you? It could be a graphics issue. Maybe running it with a lower resolution lower graphics bit.

Perhaps disabling the graphics driver and running the game just to check.

I wouldn't disable DEP it is there to protect against memory access violations. Just because the game is clean doesn't mean something can't piggy back on to it or its memory space. And turning it off can let a possible security threat spread. Here is some basic info about DEP

I am thinking it is possibly old code that is doing something that it isn't supposed to but the newer version of windows catches it. For example, SQL 2008, maybe it was 2005, wouldn't install on windows 7 because Microsoft didn't close a window before opening a new one. So it would error because you were always supposed to close that window before creating a new one. But it there was a bug in previous versions of windows that never caught the error.

When you play the game does it open an abobe product? If so what version. The sandbox is more of a guess and how to change it depends on what the game uses to play. If it is an Adobe product or something else let me know and I'll see if we can change the setting. Usually its only an issue when it tries to access files outside of its domain which usually applies to games that play in the browser and try to access local file system. But if it plays locally it shouldn't have an issue but it could be. The sandbox was a guess and I wasn't sure if you meant it couldn't access other files. I'm rambling so I'll let you try that stuff.. Also, can you go back to the other thread and mark a few answers as helpful or answered to bring them to the top so others don't have to sort through everything

So, is there any way to choose a folder to sandbox? Or do I have to just disable DEP for my system? Is there any alternative?

Regarding the USB security settings, the only items I saw are as follows:

And on top of that, the COM+QC was the only one I could edit.

Since it isn't installed it probably runs in its own sandbox so it isn't allowed to interact with anything outside of its own files. Does it use a flash based player to display it. Maybe getting a newer version installed would help. I can't remember the name of the other flash player for games on is adobe air the other, I think, is shockwave. Could be it doesn't know how to use graphics accelerators correctly. Maybe disabling them in your graphics card settings will help it play better

By the way, regarding your USB issue try this and see if that port has a different security permission set to it then the working ones

Well, I got it working after adding it as an exception to DEP. But it is weird because the game runs VERY slow and the fps is around 30 (not stable). It just feels so much different than on windows 7. I am running it as an administrator. It is also weird because it seems to have no settings set. This game has something called an "autoexec.cfg" that loads every time the game starts. It loads fine for the other exes, but it won't load for this one. It is very strange. Also, when I go to properties, I see something very strange:

EDIT: It seems almost as if it just doens't have permission to access any subfolders or anything. But I am running it as an administrator.

EDIT 2: Alright, I opened the other exes and they are lagging like crazy now too. I don't understand what is wrong.

EDIT 3: Ok, I reenabled the DEP for the program and restarted my computer but the fps is still horrible and the program lags like crazy. 

EDIT 4: LMAO. I can't believe I forgot about this. I forgot the adapter was disabled. Now that I've enabled it, it runs perfectly. wow :P. But it still seems like it can't access any other files or anything. Not sure how to fix that. Sorry for all the edits lol

Sorry for getting back to you so late.

This is a very old game, it came out in 2000 lol. This same .exe (I copied and pasted it from my windows 7 computer onto my windows 8. with this game, it doesn't need registry keys so you can copy and paste the whole game folder onto another machine and it will work just fine). works fine on windows 7 but not 8. On 8, I get this BEX error.  I have tried running it in compatibility mode for windows 7 but that also did not work.

Maybe I will just disable Data Execution Protection for this program since I trust it. 

I tried what you suggested with the driver but it did not fix it. Also, I don't even see a basic display adapter in device manager. 

My computer did not crash, but the program crashed with an error.
