Were you able to run the keyboard strat from the exe?

Try dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth to see if that helps.

what happens when you open a notepad and hit windows key + S does it type an s or do nothing?

I found the ram test that I spoke of earlier. I don't know why I couldn't remember it but someone posted it and I grabbed it for you. I did it earlier and saved it to a file but forgot who posted it so I can't give them credit. This will tell you if you have a RAM issue so you can get a better idea if you need to contact support to try and get them to send you some new sticks or warranty the repair out locally if you are lucky, and you don't have to open the PC :)

First run Memtest86+: 

 This runs from a boot disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memory

 sticks are bad or the SPD values in the BIOS are correct.

 Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or more hours (at least 3 full passes), if no errors by then your ram is OK.

The program that runs the On Screen Keyboard is "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\TabTip.exe"

 There is also the original On Screen Keyboard from earlier operating systems still floating around in Windows 8.

C:\Windows\System32\OSK.exe.

Maybe your Keyboard is damaged and the Key needs replacing.

Thank you, that worked. I tried that before but it didn't work. It works fine now though! I do have another problem, this one began more recently. I can't for the life of my get the windows key to do it's job correctly anymore. Like, right now, no matter how many times I press it, or no matter what key combination I use, it won't take me to the metro apps place or let me search (windows key + s) or anything. And right now, I can't even open up the on screen keyboard (yeseterday I had a problem with the windows key where it stopped working for like 2 minutes and then when it started working again, it acted as though the windows key was always being pressed. I tried to fix it with the on screen keyboard but it had no effect. I also tried pressing the key many many times. A restart was the only way to fix this problem; however, a few minutes after booting up I encountered the error again). It is so weird, I can open other programs that are pinned to my taskbar, but I can't seem to open the on-screen keyboard. What is up with my computer?
