Unable to send emails to Groups in Windows Live Mail

Original title: sending & receiving group contact emails

I don't understand why I cannot send emails to my group contacts, as I have done for many years.  I tried it on another computer in the house today, using my husband's account, and it worked fine.  On my own account, when I begin to type in the group name, for example "Fam," the full name "Family" will appear, I click on it, and it appears in the To line, as it should.  It looks like it is ready to send, but it does not go.  If I copy to my own email to see what happens, I am the only name on the sent message.  This has been a problem for nearly a year, but now I need to use larger group mailings, and it is a bigger problem.  What can I do? Both of our computers run Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail.  I have read some comments from the community about Windows Live Mail not supporting group contacts, but why does it allow the creation of group contacts if they cannot be used?

Thanks,

Ruth

    Hello Ruth,

I would like to verify what happens after you clicked the + sign. Did your contacts appear individually? If possible, please send us a screenshot of the issue.

For instructions on how to get a screenshot, please refer here:

    For **Windows 8**

    For **Vista/Windows 7**

You can upload your screenshot on the private message that I have provided. Make sure that you are signed in to see the private message. Afterwards, post a message in the public forum that you’ve uploaded the screenshot/s.

    We'll wait for your response.

    Thank you.

    Helene,

When I click on the group title the + sign automatically appears before the category name.  It has not helped yet.  Are you suggesting I add another + ?

    Thanks for your reply,

    Ruth

    Hi Ruth,

Thank you for your reply. I see that you've tried some workarounds to send emails to your contact groups. You can try these another workaround while the issue is under investigation.

    1. Click on the (+) sign before the Category in the To: field.
    2. The complete list of email addresses will then appear and then click Send.

Let us know if this will work for you.

    Regards.

    Glenda,

Many thanks for your prompt reply.  I'm glad to hear confirmation that someone is working on it.  I know I am not the only one with the problem.  In the meantime, I have appreciated the idea from several participants in the Community:  to save a draft message with all the addresses, to cut and paste in a new message.

    Ruth
