I found something in the MS info about problems with this update in which MS say the following:

Known issues with this security update

    • After you install security update 2862330, your computer may restart two times. For more information updates that require multiple restart, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    2894518

Software updates that require multiple reboots may cause task sequence failure within Configuration Manager

Could this be the real reason that all of us are having problems?

    ACTIONS

[You will want to print these instructions for offline reference. IMPORTANT => DON'T SKIP ANY STEP & perform all Steps in one, uninterrupted session! If a Step says to reboot, reboot!]

    1. Right-click on the following link, select SAVE TARGET AS... & download the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool, saving it to your desktop: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust\_support\_patches/MCPR.exe
    2. Close all open applications (i.e., anything with an icon on the taskbar).
    3. Right-click on the file you saved in Step #1 above and select Run as Administrator to run the utility. Don't TOUCH your keyboard until the run completes, then reboot.

Note=> For optimal results, check the Delete personal settings option.

Did MS remove the offending update?

MS may have throttled KB2862330 but neither KB2862330 nor MS13-081 suggest that it's been "removed," Ted - at least as of this post.

Three Win 7's - this am installed updates in the first one (win 7 pro x64 sp1) - KB2862330 did not install

had to restart and remove update.

    1:00 pm - started 2nd win 7 pro x64 sp1 - check for updates - KB2862330 wasn't listed!

1:30 pm - started 3rd win 7 home premium x32 (this was set to auto updates) - showed 15 updates, pressed the check for updates button and now listed 14 - KB2862330 not listed.

Did MS remove the offending update?
