Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Hi.

    I posted earlier that I appear to have solved mine. Right clicked on the wi-fi icon. Then selected 'diagnose problems', or whatever it offers.

    Mine found 4 connectivity issue, then it fixed them.

    Gotta be 4 or 5 days now and it is as stable as it was before I joined this thread.

    Hey ,

    I followed the instructions or steps which are mentioned in above reply but nothing worked . My laptop still facing same problem. I would appreciate If you can give solution for this.

    Perhaps this is because Nadella is concentrating on the cloud and doesn't give a rat's **** that one of the most basic functionality needed by a modern PC is broken on Windows 8/8.1. My advice would be that he make sure that MS' cloud offerings work well on OS X, iOS and Android, because Windows 8/8.1 PCs won't be able to get online. Would be funny if it weren't so blasted frustrating as a Windows user.

    I have this problem too,

    my pc was fine (desktop running 8.1), i reset it because the internet was being slow and the connection is permanently 'limited' now.

    if i boot in safe mode i can connect to the internet. i tried wired and wireless (which usually use) and they both show limited.

    I've followed a tonne of guides which had me refreshing my ip addresses and checking for malware to no avail. I've reset the network devices and rolled back their drivers.

    other computers are working fine on the same connection. 

    just to top off the annoyance, i cant run a refresh because it says its missing files. My version of Windows 8.1 was upgraded from 7 originally, i have no idea what the key is and my original boot disk is Windows 7 SP1.

    also how am i supposed to install any updates if i cant connect to the internet?

    anyone know what to do?

    Update: 

    I tried all advice that I was directed towards to no avail.

    I've now reinstalled windows 7 and there are no connection problems.

    This rules out and hardware issues with my pc or my router and points the finger at windows 8.

    my motherboard is an ASUS P9X79 pro, does anyone have something similar and also have windows 8 problems?
