Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Same with me, I just got my new notebook Samsung Ativ Book 6 today

    Updating Norton and got speed to LIMITED in the middle of it the times

    I have to disconnect and reconnect get back online.

    I have the same problems you all are having.

    I have an Intel Centrino Wireless-n 2230

    And my router is a Apple Time Capule.

    The best I got was installing updated drivers without the Intel software. Had to find the temporary folder that the setup.exe creates, open it, install the drivers separated, and then close the setup without installing the PRO/Wireless tool.

    Sometimes it goes for days without disconnecting. Maybe I'll try to find the factory drivers for Windows 8 over the Windows 8.1 version, which was quite stable on Windows 8.

    Spoke too soon. My wifi is now dropping again. It was better for a couple of days though. Now I'm back to the same issue, waiting for the wifi to respond. 

    Can anyone test this: 

    I turned off WPA2 and went to unsecured wifi, and now my machine connects and runs forever without dropouts. I tried WEP and it also works just fine.

    If anyone else can see if turning off WPA2 helps or solves the problem of intermittent wifi drops, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi yes this is exactly what I face great description. I have an HP laptop but always connected to power and all the power related items have been set thanks to the advice on this thread. I average about 10 minutes per disconnect. All white bars on the tray icon and a little yellow exclamation mark. Disconnect / reconnect solves it. A few minutes before the disconnect all the connected services like wireless print report they are not connected any more. All other devices stay connected and working including OSX, ios, Android, BBerry etc. I have also tried disconnecting everything but my windows laptop so it is the only thing connected. I have tried all the options suggested here. It's enough for me that the problem is just with my windows device so I am simply going to retire that environment as I can't do anything useful before the connection drops each time. OSX is solid as a rock compared to Win8
