Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Not everyone has a intel card. But seems none the less even with all the different cards. We all had this happen after the update. I too read weeks ago about problems as far back as a year ago. And those haven't been resolved for the most part. But the problem has seem to triple since the 8.1 release and updates. There in the problem resides. Microsoft don't care you say. Can't help but agree there. Too many cards...do you think all the retailers of the cards will really care enough to refund? Perhaps a few lucky ones will get replacements.  I still think some major attention needs to be viewed by Microsoft since it is their software we all are using. The common denominator here. Mine is still working since I followed disabling the WMM..but not sure how long that will hold. Seems everyone is furious and nothing is going to rush this if one year has passed and many still with no solution. It just sucks!

    Thanks that's the driver I re-installed. I did install a newer one 16. something and that made things even worse.

    intel centrino wireless N-2200

    device manager shows MS driver v15.10.0.12

    (but the intel download was named 16.6.0 with a product version of 15.5.0.0)

    just noticed (rarely used) rocketfish bluetooth adaptor is also not working since 8.1 update (and google turns up others reporting same).

    Hi Nigel,

    Can you tell me what wireless adapter you have and the driver version and date you are using now please?

    One thing I've not mentioned is that when the 8.1 update was applied it also broke my Graphics card driver. Thankfully I was able to re-install the old driver to fix it. Not as lucky with the wireless driver.

    it may be that i needed to re-apply the intel update after win8.1 had done an automatic update yesterday.

    rebooted 5 or 6 times in a couple of hours this morning because the wifi kept dropping but since reapplying the intel update an hour and a half ago things have been ok again.
