Windows 8.1 Network Connection Error: One or more network protocols missing on this computer

Friend's computer running Windows 8.1 is unable to connect to awired or wireless network giving the following error: Problems found: One or more network protocols are missing on this computer. Windows Network Diagnostics is unable to repair the problem.

This problem appeared after Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete was installed and run. It detected several problems (virus, trojan, malware) and it removed the infections. My friend did reboot the computer and since then it became unable to connect.

Has anyone had this kind of problem happen to them, and what if anything, other than restoring from scratch, can be done to regain connectivity.

64 Bits Windows 8.1

Update: After toying with the TCP-IP protocols, system is now showing an active wireless connection with full strength, yet when a browser its open it brings up an empty page with "This page can't be displayed"

Pinging to yahoo server returns positive with all ping successfully completed.

Using Internet Explorer "Fix connection problems" returns that no problem was found.

Network Connections shows an active Wi-fi state, and with status details showing IPv4 with Internet Connection, not so for IPV6. Media state as Enabled. Speed 144.0 Mbps, and under Activity: Sent bytes: 1,827, Received bytes 2,513. Diagnose option returns no found issues.

Could this be a possible Virus or System Compromised by malware or trojan? Webroot Active and no infections has been detected since original setup and clearing of active infections.

thank you, I have sorted it out. it was the internet security I had just installed, it was blocking the internet

You might be aware that Windows 10 Technical Preview is still in developmental stage, you may expect some compatibility issues as of now and some features or settings might not work as expected. The issue description suggests that you are unable to connect to your network hard drive “Mybook Live” which I believe is a product of Western Digital. There seems to be some driver’s issue.

I would suggest you to contact the Western Digital Support Team and check with them about the compatible drivers for the system. Here is the link to reach out to them:

I'm having same problems since I upgraded to window 10 technical preview.

I'm having error whenever I try to connect to my network hard drive "Mybook Live".

Windows Network diagnostics finds problems and says,

"One or more network protocols are missing on this computer."

Any takers?
