Hello.

I got an issue with my Lumia 930 that i bought today.

When i've got an incomming/outgoing call the person on the other end can't hear me, but i can hear them clearly. It works when i put the call on speaker, but i want to be able to call someone and not sharing the conversation with everyone around me.

So far i've done:

Soft reset

Hard reset

Nokia Software recovery tool

Does anyone have this issue?

Is there a fix for this or should i return it?

At this point there is no fix not an easy one anyways some people have reported that they had their phones replaced others they had to the motherboard replaced but there is no clear indication of what the real problem is. our acomplaints are still fall on deaf ears with Nokia and Microsoft it is very frustrating. Some here on this blog said they are going to raise the issue at different levels to get more attention but at this point I am not aware of any results yet

This thread seems to have been diverted from the initial problem.  My daughter's Nokia 930 also only works on speaker. When against the ear with speaker off,  the remote person cannot hear what is said. All that is heard by them is static. On this end of the phone call she can hear the other end perfectly. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I have emailed Anovo directly. But I haven't been given any reference numbers for the repairs hopefully they are able to locate the cases using just my email address. I have queried why they are replacing the second phone. I am determined to find out what the problem is. They have repaired mine so unless they claim it was a fluke, they better have a satisfactory response.

I am having the same problem as well with my 930. The only solution is when I use my headphone with a mic

Yes, I experienced the same problem on My Lumia 930 after installation of Windows 10 Mobile Technical Preview.

I can not record anything on voice recorder, can not use voice messages on viber, ..., unless I plug in headphones equipped with microphone.

While the phone was on Windows Phone 8.1 microphone was working correctly. Now it works only with headphones.

I tested the speaker with another phone; i called it and put it on speaker. When I pressed the speaker, I heard a strange sound similar to the sound when You cover the microphone with hand or finger to try to mute it, so the other side can not hear you. It seems that by pressing speaker, you in fact muting the microphone.

On the other hand, microphone works with Cortana, when I record a videos, when I speak for messaging, ... I even tried do disable Cortana because I assumed that maybe there are some software collisions ... same thing again

After everything I experienced and mentioned above, I think it is definitely the software issue, so I will wait the official upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, and if the problem persists, I will take the phone to be repaired.

    Dear All,

I am having the same problem as well with my 930. The only solution is when I use my headphone with a mic

Now, I am not very sure its a software issue or not. I just got back my phone from Nokia Care, yup I did not mis-typed.

They informed me that the main board is faulty and not only mic 2 but 3 & 4 on intermittent. They have replaced it and gave me back with OS version 8.1 before update 1 & another re-boot issue update.

I was afraid to update as it might fry the hardware as discussed. So, I did a thorough check first make sure all system is working from display to audio. Then I proceed with the first update and did the same check followed by the last update and did the same check.

I have been using the phone for three days now and noticed that all system works as it should have been and also notice that my unit does not heat up as bad as previous.

I guess my advise is to get your phone replaced if its under warranty.

Now I am happily waiting for Win 10

    Thanks
