Windows Live Mail can not copy hyperlinks from one e-mail to another.

How and what do you want us to add and where do we add it?  You mean copy and paste?  But paste where? Over the existing registry? You do not mean replace the registry but just add this to it. But add it where exactly? This is not at all clear.

Once clarified am I to understand that if it does not work we simply revert to the prior restore pint and it's all reversed.

No, you have not understood the problem. What "embedded images" are you talking about? We are not talking about 'images' but hyperlinks.  In any event the problem is not that imbedded hyperlinks "failed to send" but that they are not even pasted in  to be sent -- all that gets pasted in is raw text which is all that gets sent.

First did you retrieve Enquiry Response html.htm into your browser (notfrom MS Word)? I did not give any instructions about " Control A, Control C and Control V" but that combination in FF works just fine. The entire document pastes into WLM just fine. I sent it to myself and I get it but you are right! This time it did not work. Go figure. I did several tests that worked fine over the weekend. Why the inconsistency I do not know.  I  get the email with the clearly highlighted hyperlink but they do not work.  Rather maddening. You might want to try the Registry fix jFiredog suggested here but I am very reluctant to  mess with the registry because others here have reported that is creates problems.

I agree: MicroSoft is being very irresponsible.

Do not ever (as has been done here) instruct end-users to mess with their registry (lead them down a garden path) and then abandon them on a dead end street ... how do we get back to the way we were?

I'll repeat here my 6 June suggestions in this thread:

For anyone else watching this, I've uploaded a reg file to OneDrive; you can download the fileHoge.reg and save it on your desktop. I would suggest that you test by taking the following steps:

1. Close down Windows Live Mail.
2. Set a *restore point*.
3. Double-click onHoge.reg to add the entries it contains to your registry. You will have to give UAC permission. You should receive an acknowledgement that the addition was successful.
4. Launch Windows Live Mail and test copying links into a message compose window.
5. For a possible little bonus, try forwarding a message with embedded images that failed to send properly previously.

You'll note that step 2 is set a restore point with a link to instructions. Restore points are a snapshot of the computer operating system including its registry. If anything should go wrong as a result of following the other steps, using the restore point will revert to the status quo.

Have you confirmed that altering the registry not only fixes this problem but has no adverse effect on any other program that uses IE 11 standards?

This little fix changes the browser emulation mode for Windows Live Mail alone. It has no effect on any other program. The problem it solves is the one I documented earlier that arose with the release of IE11, not any other problem that may have affected some users since 2010.

I tried this - saved my original document,

enquiry response.doc (MS word with embedded hyperlinks which work - and used to work when copied into WLM on Windows 8), as

Enquiry Response html.htm.  The hyperlinks are still there and working, however, Control A, Control C and Control V into WLM destroys all hyperlinks.

Sorry - not fixed.  ....and I should not need to do this.  Microsoft broke their software when they upgraded Win 8.0 to Win 8.1 nearly a year ago and should clear up their own mess.
