Windows 8.1 Update for x64-based Systems (KB2919355)

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 800F0922

System got to 89% then said it couldn't complete the updates and that it would back out the updates.  15 minutes later, I'm back where I started.

Is it possible windows defender or other virus scanner blocked this update?

I had the same issue and was resolved by going to services (windows key + r) and then type services.msc and click ok.

locate Windows Update, right-click and choose stop.

go to windows explorer and navigate to c:\windows\softwaredistribution, delete the download folder.

go back to services and start the Windows Update service again.  now re-run windows updates to see if the install will work.

    This worked fine for me.

I had to go pretty far down these comments to get to this answer but it worked for me. Uninstall your Cisco VPN Client, then try to run the update. Thanks to those who dug through system logs to figure this one out!

Many refer to Karel's reply, but that makes no sense and it ends with a question! What do I need to accomplish  to get a valid install?

I found a perfect solution that worked for me, and I am sure it will work for you and everyone else.   I found my Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit installation disk.  I placed it in my disk drive and ran the setup..  That's it.  I guarantee your problems will be gone.   Hasta la vista Windows 8!   Given that I skipped Vista, maybe a good rule of thumb is to skip every other major update to Windows.
