I had this issue with my VivoBook S400CA touch screen and fixed it today doing the following:

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Troubleshooting (you may have to search for it)
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. In the Device section, click Hardware and Devices
  5. Have the wizard scan your computer for hardware issues.
  6. Let the computer fix whatever issues you had.

In my case there were 2 USB input devices that were disabled that the wizard enabled for me.  The touchscreen immediately started working.  Hope this helps someone.

UPDATE:

The problem used to come back periodically.  But since updating all of my drivers a while back, the problem has not resurfaced.

it is not a problem as such...it is a power saver feature....so if you go in device manager under human interface devices, right click on the usb device, then click property, under the power management tab, untick the option that allows the computer to turn off the driver...

It was a while ago that I updated my drivers... I believe there is a native Asus application that you can launch and it will check on all of your drivers for you, but I can't remember the name of it.  I will check when I get home.

I can see that I'm not the only one with problems :-(

The touch screen on my new Asus Vivibook S400CA stopped working. Maybe because the Win 8 updates were installed.

I've tried the above, and other things, but no luck.

If I run the wizard it says the notebook has an issue with a driver, but it's not named.

I suspect it's the Touchscreen driver.

Does anbody know the name of the driver and where it should be located?

There is apparently some USB conflict because some error messages about unrecognized USB devices keeps popping up.

    So any advice?

    I consider returning the pc.
