I could live without Facebook and Flickr, but I really need either NAS support or HomeGroup support. We have about 80 GB of photos, and I'm not about to upload all of them to SkyDrive - right now we store redundant copies on our two desktops and NAS. The Surface Pro (Windows 8.1) doesn't contain many of the photos, but I'd like to view them from there. Is there no way you can make HomeGroup work like SkyDrive, or support some kind of "Private SkyDrive" configuration via a NAS?

I mean if you want to think about it. The best part I like about this update is the lock screen. I love the photo's slideshow which does include SkyDrive locations. So even if you decide not to do Facebook, at least put back SkyDrive into the app so it is all one place for pictures. I just think the Large Tile is perfect for a continuous slide show of all your pictures from all your services. Also maybe add Facebook to the Lock Screen Slide Show.

Same here. The photo app would only detect images on the local storage, not even the ones on SkyDrive that were made available offline. At this moment, the photo app does not even have the live tile function. I hope it is either a bug or purposely disabled so that MS can work in some major overhaul. I highly doubt they would just take it away, after all it is not only a image viewer and organizer, it was also serving as a decorative tile.

I have looked everywhere, every setting and cant find how to get the photos app to include all my pics from SkyDrive, social media uploads etc.....I truly hope this has not been taken away......anyone???

And please please tell us. What exactly is your plan for us that do not actually store our photos on our local machine? NAS be damned?

Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...
