Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...

EDIT: October 18 – This has been edited to reflect the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 official RTM/GA release.

I've just installed the 8.1 Preview on a desktop. EDIT: 10/17/2013-this is also true for RTM. The Photos App has changed:

  1. No longer includes the ability to show images from Facebook, Flickr, SkyDrive

  1. Does have some new editing features

 3. Live Tile functionality has disappeared.

Tiles are working, but images change only 1x per day. This needs to be a shorter period.

    That does not make Carmen right, not a single person on here has found a positive reason for this change.

    Not a single person here had a direct input into the development of the 8.1 preview.

    If senior members of the Microsoft team cannot appreciate why the current incarnation of the 8.1 photos app is a retrograde step, then that surely demonstrates a level of detachment which will cause the whole design to fail miserably.

    As I suspect you fear, Carmen Zlateff is apparently a Principal Lead Program Manager at Microsoft, and has been working in the area of digital photo applications for some time...            

    Your reply frankly terrifies me. If Microsoft employees with a direct (and by your inference, senior) input into software design decisions are replying in this manner, then we are lost.

    Wouldn't be the first time Microsoft made a huge mistake.  And doesn't change the fact that this is a very stupid decision.
